The Hiking enthusiast can pick from a multitude of terrains. Kamloops has the largest natural park contained in it’s boundaries and within 1 km of the Place Inn. This park offers both challenging trails and beautiful panoramic views of the City. Our staff will help you choose the trails most suited to your needs and can advise on the degree of difficulty.

Bird Watching is also popular and we have several scenic areas to facilitate your viewing. Our desk will supply lists of local species, etc.

The Kamloops Thompson Valley region is known to be the mountain biking capital of Canada. Hoodoos, rugged canyons, logging roads, sliders, ramps and kilometres of recreational riding provides a variety of terrain for both adventure and leisure bikers.

As the birthplace of “freeriding,” Kamloops has always attracted mountain bike enthusiasts. The Kamloops area offers a vast selection of diverse, easy-to-access topography for riders, from desert like, single track courses to high-speed alpine riding.

Mountain bike and BMX terrains are varied within the city limits. Enjoy phase 1 of our new and exciting Mountain Bike and BMX Park.

Dirt Biking is also popular within the city limits, as we have many beautiful scenic mountains with winding trails.

Skate Boarding is available at two very well designed skateboard parks, at one of which the world famous Tony Hawk has appeared.

In the Kamloops area, there are 48 million years of history to unearth and many semi-precious stones to uncover! Discovering fossils and rocks in this area is an adventure that draws geology and palaeontology enthusiasts from around the world. These are activities that anyone can enjoy. While on your hike, don’t be surprised if you come across some great samples—like calcite, stilbites, Vesuvianite Crystals, or garnets.

For fossil digging or rock hounding we can assist you in choosing the areas whether for minerals, fossils or gold. Should you prefer a guided field trip into the mountains and valley of our region we will be happy to make the arrangements for you.
